Job Title: After School Program Assistant
Position Summary:
The ABC Program Assistant plays an important role in providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled after-school environment for students enrolled in Bosco Catholic School System's ABC program. This position assists with supervising students, facilitating engaging activities, promoting positive behavior, and ensuring a welcoming environment where children continue to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually beyond the school day.
Key Responsibilities
Student Supervision & Care
Provide attentive supervision for students during the after-school program.
Maintain appropriate staff-to-student ratios at all times.
Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.
Promote positive behavior through encouragement, consistency, and respectful interactions.
Ensure student safety during indoor and outdoor activities.
Program Support
Assist with planning and leading age-appropriate educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
Encourage student participation in structured games, crafts, and other activities.
Help prepare, organize, and clean activity areas and materials.
Maintain classrooms, equipment, and playground areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Faith Integration
Support and promote the mission and philosophy of the Bosco Catholic School System.
Model Christian values, kindness, respect, and service in daily interactions.
Foster an environment where students experience the love of Christ through positive relationships and compassionate care.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience working with school-age children is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate supervision.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to solve practical problems and respond calmly in a variety of situations.
Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
Schedule
Part-time, school-year position.
Typical hours begin at 2:00 p.m. on school days and continue until students have been picked up and staffing ratios have been met.
The ABC program operates until 5:30 p.m., although hours may vary depending on student enrollment and program needs.
Employees are responsible for accurately recording daily work hours and submitting timesheets.
