Primary Function: Provides leadership, vision and oversight of services provided by the Counseling Center; providing clinical supervision of full time staff, supervises and evaluates staff; facilitates methods for promoting excellent clinical performance, high-quality clinical services to all clients in the Counseling Center; carries a clinical caseload of clients at the Counseling Center, including initial triage screening and assessments, risk assessment, crisis management, individual/group/couples counseling, psycho-education, psychological assessment, and referrals to campus or community services as appropriate; and serves as mental health consultant to the campus community and works collaboratively across the University.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy; at least four years of recent clinical experience including a minimum of one year of experience working with college age clients and administrative duties; and a current Iowa license as an independent mental health therapist or a licensed independent social worker required. PhD in counseling or clinical psychology; experience working in a college or university counseling center; experience supervising professional staff; experience in the development of counseling and mental health services and programs in a university setting, including assessment, quality improvement, and use of data to inform decision-making; experience developing group counseling, outreach and adult programs; expertise in crisis intervention and management; and an affinity for working in an interdisciplinary team preferred.
